Privacy Policy

Effective 23 October 2026

This policy explains what information is collected when you use the Circle Sewing Calculator at circlesewingcalculator.com, including when the calculator is shown on frugaldadsewing.com, and how that information is used. The site is run by Matt Garner of Frugal Dad Sewing ("we", "us").

The short version

Information you enter in the calculator

The calculator runs entirely in your browser. The measurements, project types and settings you choose are used on your device to work out cut sizes and create your PDF pattern. The PDF is made in your browser and saved straight to your device. None of this is sent to our server.

To save you re-entering everything, the page remembers your last project and sizes using your browser's local storage. This stays on your device, we can't see it, and you can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for circlesewingcalculator.com.

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, our web server keeps a standard log of requests. Each entry includes your IP address, the date and time, the page or file requested, your browser type, and the address of the page that linked to ours, if any. We use these logs only to keep the site running, fix problems and protect it from abuse. They are deleted automatically after about 14 days, and we don't use them to identify you or combine them with other information.

Site statistics

We use GoatCounter to count visits and see which parts of the calculator are used. It uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device. When a page loads, it sends GoatCounter the page address, the address of the page that linked here, your browser type, your screen width and your approximate location by country. When you download a PDF pattern, change the project or units, or copy the cut list, it also records that action and the project name, but never the sizes you enter.

GoatCounter uses your IP address only to tell unique visits apart and to look up the country, and doesn't store it. It shows us totals, never individual visitors. The service is run by Martin Tournoij in Ireland, and its data is stored on servers in Finland and Germany. See the GoatCounter privacy policy. Blocking scripts or using a content blocker stops this counting, and the calculator works the same.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to show ads, which helps keep the calculator free.

The information these cookies collect, such as your IP address, browser and device details and the pages you visit, is collected by Google and its partners directly, under their own privacy policies. We don't receive it in a form that identifies you.

Your choices

Other services the page uses

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland

If you visit from these regions, you'll be asked for your consent before advertising cookies are used to personalize ads, through a consent message shown on the site. You can change your choice at any time from that message's settings link. We rely on your consent for advertising cookies, and on our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website for server logs.

You have the right to ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. Because we hold almost nothing that identifies you, most requests about advertising data are best made to Google through its privacy settings.

Visitors in California and other US states

We don't sell your personal information for money. Some state privacy laws, including California's, may treat the use of advertising cookies to show personalized ads as "selling" or "sharing" personal information. You can opt out of this by using the choices above, including Google Ads Settings and the aboutads.info opt-out tools. You also have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you and to ask us to delete it, and we won't treat you differently for using these rights.

Children

The site is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

The site is served only over HTTPS, so what passes between your browser and our server is encrypted.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, for example if we add or change services. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed.
